  • Budget per annum Operating and Capital - $1.0 billion (includes cash value of capital works program of other Departments).
  • Assets Managed — majority Northern Territory Government assets in conjunction with other Departments.
  • Staff Numbers — 450 (Darwin, Gove, Katherine, Tennant Creek and Alice Springs).
  • Delivery of whole of Government infrastructure program including all capital works construction projects and repairs and maintenance services for all Government assets:

      • Total number of projects delivered - 2700
      • Cash value of Capital Works Program delivered - $409 million
      • Value of Repairs and Maintenance delivered - $145 million

      • Value of Repairs and Maintenance to be delivered - $165 million
  • Management of all stages of large infrastructure projects:

  • Delivery of Australian Government Stimulus Package for schools, housing and roads in conjunction with other Departments.
  • Further development of infrastructure program planning and programming over four and 10 year timeframes in conjunction with Northern Territory Treasury and other Departments.
  • Development and implementation of new Government Asset Management System.
  • Creation of sustained training and job opportunities throughout the Northern Territory via overall Government infrastructure program.
  • Preparation of cabinet submissions, budget submissions and advice to Government.

Key Initiatives and Achievements included:

  • Delivery of record levels of Capital Works Program and number of infrastructure projects in 2008-09 and projected 2009-10.
  • Delivery of Australian Government Stimulus Package projects in conjunction with other Departments.
  • Introduction of Alliance and Early Contractor Involvement (ECI) contracting/procurement methodologies to the Northern Territory.
  • Development of draft 10 year infrastructure strategy for the Northern Territory in conjunction with other Departments.
  • Development and implementation of new Asset Management System for whole of Northern Territory Government.
  • Significant input to the development and management of the Northern Territory Government's four year rolling capital works program.
  • Conduct of regular contractor forums to share information with construction industry.
  • Development of scholarship, trainee and staff development programs in conjunction with Charles Darwin University and training providers.
  • Development of resource sharing schemes with Local Government throughout the Northern Territory.
  • Creation of Indigenous employment opportunities throughout the Northern Territory.
  • Commercialisation of an Integrated Land Information System with private sector partner.
